🎙️ Transcription
MP3, MP4, WAV and M4A. The limit is 25 MB - approximately 45 minutes of standard quality audio. For larger files, compress the audio to 64 kbps in any free converter before uploading.
Very little. A 10-minute file takes about 1 minute. The upper limit is 3 minutes for long recordings. You can close the tab - when you return, the transcription will be waiting in your history.
Yes, and better than you might expect. Whisper handles moderate noise from cafes, streets and events well. For heavy noise, enable High precision from the transcription panel - it uses the most powerful Whisper model. Available on Storyteller.
Yes. Whisper was trained on Latin American Spanish in all its regional diversity. It recognizes Colombian, coastal, paisa, and caleño accents. Also works with Spanish from Mexico, Argentina, Chile and the rest of LATAM.
Tangara supports public videos up to 20 minutes directly from YouTube. For longer videos, download the audio as MP3 using cobalt.tools (free, no registration) and upload it in the "Upload file" tab. You'll have the transcription in 2 minutes.
Tangara supports videos and audio up to 20 minutes per transcription. For longer videos, download the audio as MP3 and upload it in 20-minute segments. Support for videos up to 3 hours coming soon.
Yes. With High precision mode (Whisper Large v3) enable "Identify speakers". Tangara labels speech turns as Speaker 1, Speaker 2... based on pauses in the recording. Ideal for multi-person interviews.
Yes. Use the 🎙 Record tab in the dashboard. The browser will ask for microphone permission the first time. Maximum 20 minutes per recording.
🔒 Privacy & security
Yes, completely. Only you can see your history and transcriptions. Tangara does not read, share or sell your content. Your sources and recordings are yours.
No. The audio is sent to Groq Whisper to process the transcription and is not stored afterwards. What remains saved in your account is only the text of the transcription.
Tangara encrypts communication with HTTPS and does not retain audio files. However, if you work with sources at risk or classified information, we recommend reading our Privacy Policy and evaluating whether cloud processing is appropriate for your specific case.
🎧 Podcasts & external sources
Yes, using the podcast's RSS feed - not the Spotify or Apple Podcasts URL. The RSS feed contains the actual audio file. If you can't find the RSS icon on the podcast's site, search for it at podcastindex.org.
Look for the RSS icon (orange) on the podcast's website. The link usually ends in .xml or contains the word "feed". Example:

Currently Tangara supports YouTube (up to 20 min) and directly uploaded files (MP3, MP4, WAV, M4A). Vimeo and other platforms are on the roadmap.
💳 Plans & billing
Tangara has a permanent Free plan: 30 minutes of transcription per month, no credit card, forever. If you need more, paid plans start from $3 USD/mes/month.
Yes. No automatic charges or forced renewals. If you decide not to renew, your plan expires at the end of the contracted period and your account automatically switches to the Free plan with 30 minutes per month. Your transcriptions remain saved.
They stay in your history. The Free plan saves your last 10 transcriptions. Soloist saves the last 30, Storyteller the last 100. If your account is inactive for more than 6 months you will receive an email notice 30 days before suspension. You can reactivate your account for free at any time.
Yes. The upgrade is immediate. A proportional credit is applied for unused days - you don't pay twice for the same period.
Yes, 20% on all plans. Storyteller goes from $8 USD/mes to $6.40 USD/mes. The savings equals more than 2 free months.
Prices are shown in USD: Soloist $3 USD/mes, Storyteller $8 USD/mes. Payment via Mercado Pago for LATAM.

Reads the entire transcription and generates a summary with the main points in 3 to 5 paragraphs. Useful for processing long interviews and deciding which fragments to use without rereading everything.
Converts the key points of the transcription into 5 to 8 posts ready to copy and paste on X (Twitter). Each post respects the character limit.
Generates a journalistic article draft based on the transcription: headline, introduction, development and closing. It's a starting point - you edit it and publish it in your own voice.
Extracts the most powerful phrases from the transcription - the ones worth publishing verbatim or using as epigraphs.
Uses Groq's most powerful transcription engine for difficult audio - heavy accents, background noise or interviews where every word matters. Available on Storyteller.

Yes, from Settings → Profile. If you registered with Google, you don't have a Tangara password - you continue using Google to log in.
Yes. From Settings → Language. The app is available in Spanish and English.
From Settings → Theme. You can choose Day, Night or Automatic - the latter adapts to the time of day in Colombia.
